- Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding Between BotSoc and SANBI
Two IUCN members have recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on various aspects of conservation. The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) and the Botanical Society of South Africa (BotSoc) have agreed to strengthen their historical link and demonstrate a true model for effective cooperation and a mutually beneficial relationship between a public entity and civil society. - Annual General Meeting of the BotSoc
The Annual General meeting of the BotSoc will be held on Tuesday 21st September 2010 in the Strelitzia Hall at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden, Roodepoort, Gauteng.This is the second time in the 97 years of the BotSoc that the AGM of the Society will be held outside of Cape Town. The first time was during 1987 at the request of the then Bankenveld branch in Johannesburg.The Special General meeting called by the Council of the BotSoc, will follow directly after the business of the AGM. The proposed constitutional changes will be tabled for approval at the SGM.The Council and Head office would like to thank the Chair and the Committee of the Bankenveld Branch for hosting the events of the AGM, SGM as well as the Convention.
- Notice of a Special General Meeting
Notice of a Special General Meeting called by the Council of the Botanical Society of SA to be held on Tuesday 21st September 2010, immediately after the Annual General meeting of the Society.
The purpose is to amend the Constitution.The reason is to ensure compliance with the legal operational framework of the Society. Please note that the full Constitution and the proposed amendments will be available on the Botanical Society’s website.
Members may also request a copy to be posted or emailed to them.
