Getting Involved

Becoming a Member

Besides the direct membership benefits one receives (e.g. FREE entry; free excess seeds for South Africa resident ordinary and family members, discounts at the Botanical Society shops, the journal Veld & Flora) there is also the opportunity to assist through volunteer programmes, raising awareness, fundraising and /or assisting the various programmes (Publications, Conservation, Education, Development fund) by means of financial support.

The Botanical Society also has a bequest programme known as the Heritage Circle.

Simply by being a member or supporter of the Society one can feel proud of knowing that one is contributing to the conservation and wise use of a unique floral heritage.

Complete membership information available here (membership application form, costs, benefits, etc).

Supporting the Society

There are many opportunities to support the activities of the Society through financial donations or donations in kind.

Subscription income from membership dues basically covers membership services and the Society needs to raise funds for developments in the gardens through the Development Fund, the conservation and education projects as well as support for our publications as we try to keep the prices as low as possible.

Donations in kind (e.g. a computer, paper, printing, assisting with accommodation for travelling personnel, etc.) are also very welcome.

Contributions to the Society are not subject to donations tax nor estate duty. Bequests may be specifically designed to cater for the interests of the individual. For more information on bequests visit our Heritage Circle page.
