Where we Work!
The Head Office of the Botanical Society is situated
in the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Cape Town.
Together with the Kirstenbosch Branch of the Society,
which also has the garden as its base and is the only branch employing
full-time personnel, the total complement of staff is sixteen.
Most staff are involved with administration and
running the Bookshop with a small number specifically devoted to
conservation activities and publications.
Seven of the branches are associated with gardens
managed by the National Botanical Institute. Branches undertake many
activities from volunteer support (guides, horticulture, lectures,
walks, alien hacks, conservation issues, etc.) to specific fundraising
projects (craft markets, plant sales, garden concerts, etc.).
Most of the garden based branches are heavily focused
on supporting their particular garden whereas the non-garden based
branches focus on outings and flora conservation concerns.
